Albuquerque shops celebrate Free Comic Book day

News

Saturday is Free Comic Book Day across the nation.

Participating stores handed out comic at no cost, with hopes of encouraging literacy and creativity.

Six Albuquerque stores took part, including Astro-Zombies on Central.

The owner says the timing could not have been better.

“Now that we’ve survived the ART project, I hope everyone knows the area is booming. Everybody is coming back, restaurants, bars, all the retail businesses have been opened late,” says Astro Zombies owner Mike D’Elli.

Shops are expected to give out more than 5 million comic books throughout the day.
