Albuquerque scraps program allowing pets on city buses

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – After inviting bus riders to bring their pets on board, ABQ Ride seems to have changed its mind.

A report issued to city councilors Monday says ABQ Ride’s director is recommending that the program not become permanent. The city tested out the idea between July and December last year.

ABQ Ride says it heard concerns from people over the safety of service animals, other riders and their pets. ABQ Ride also heard that people didn’t want to sit on seats that animals may have sat on.
