ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A Jewish Community Center in Albuquerque is the latest to be targeted by a bomb scare.

Police said someone called in a bomb threat Tuesday around 9 a.m. The building was evacuated.

There were about 200 people, including about 90 kids, inside at the time.

After a search, the Albuquerque Police Department Bomb Squad did not find anything dangerous. The center’s director said although they took the threat seriously, the will not let this scare stop them.

“Bomb threats are really the work of cowards. They are designed to sow fear and disrupt daily life and you know, we are not going to give into the fear,” Director Dave Simon said.

At least 17 Jewish Community Centers around the country have been the target of bomb threats over the past couple of weeks.
