Albuquerque police ID suspects in deadly ATM shooting of veteran

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Police have identified the offenders in the shooting death of Tyler Lackey at an Albuquerque ATM.

Police are trying to find Matthew Chavez and Veronica Trimble. Police say they should be considered armed and dangerous.

“Anyone who sees them, or has contact with them call 911,” Officer Simon Drobik said. “We do not want anyone approaching these individuals.”

Drobik said it’s also likely that the two have changed their appearances.

According to the Albuquerque Police Department, there are active warrants for both Chavez and Trimble with $1,000,000 cash-only bonds.

Tyler Lackey served in Afghanistan.

“It’s rough as a police department we see these guys who were fighting for us and then all of a sudden they are victims of crime,” Drobik said.

KRQE News 13 spoke to Lackey’s brother. He said Lackey was going to school to be a nurse. He said he liked to spend time with their sister. Now, he’s hoping police will catch whoever is responsible for his brother’s murder.

Chavez is described as 6-foot-1 and being 190 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes.

Trimble is said to be 5-foot-5 and 150 pounds. She also has brown hair and eyes.

If you have any information, call 911 immediately.
