The Albuquerque Police Department has issued a Silver Alert for a missing 77-year-old woman.

Police say 77-year-old Joanna Shelton climbed out of the window of her assisted living facility near Layton and Academy in northeast Albuquerque. They say she left Wednesday morning after getting into an argument with her caregiver and was upset about having to stay at the facility.

Shelton suffers from the early stages of dementia and easily gets confused on her whereabouts. Police say she doesn’t own a vehicle and will likely be on foot.

Shelton does not have any family or known acquaintances in New Mexico.

She was last seen wearing a yellow shirt, black pants and glasses. She is described as 5-foot-2 and 125 pounds, with white hair and blue eyes.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 505-242-2688
