ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – An Albuquerque police officer who was accused of calling and texting a stripper, after he arrested her has resigned before getting fired.

Officer Frank Tillman was put on leave in February after KRQE News 13 went on special assignment and exposed him.

Tillman sent hundreds of racy texts to Adrienne Ontiveros after arresting her in December on a domestic violence call. Ontiveros filed a complaint with the Citizen’s Police Oversight Agency, the city’s independent office that investigates APD officers.

They recommended Tillman get fired.

The chief agreed and planned on firing Tillman but Tillman resigned instead after collecting more than $25,000 while on paid leave.

APD says they will send Tillman’s disciplinary records to the LEA board in regards to Tillman’s law enforcement certification.

Tillman was suspended in 2012 for texting a pregnant 17-year-old he’d pulled over in a traffic stop.
