ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Despite the city’s attempt at becoming a “cyclist safe zone,” Albuquerque’s been named the most dangerous city in the country for cyclists.
The city’s website calls Albuquerque “one of the best places in the country to ride your bike,” and asks people to take a “share the road pledge” to increase bicycle safety.
However, according to a study by 24/7 Wall Street, Albuquerque has the highest cyclist death rate in the country.
In 2015, there were five cyclist deaths in the city. The website based its rankings on death per capita.
