Albuquerque motel gets more money for revamp project

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A project to revamp a long-abandoned Albuquerque motel is getting more money.

Wednesday, Mayor Richard Berry signed a bill directing nearly $100,000 to overhaul the El Vado Motel on Central Avenue near Tingley.

The money comes from funds left over from another project. That’s on top of the $3 million in grants the city put up to help developers get the project off the ground.

The plans include a new motel along with retail and restaurant space, as well as apartments on a vacant lot next door.
