ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Families across New Mexico will be receiving their Thanksgiving meals thanks to a local organization.
The YMCA of Central New Mexico held its annual Thanksgiving Food Drive on Tuesday. They spent most of the day sorting 6,000 pounds of food and will hand out meal boxes to 100 different families Tuesday night.
The YMCA says it’s an honor to spread holiday cheer.
“People are just making it paycheck to paycheck or just have some sort of health issues or what have you, and it gives us all joy because we’re able to physically go put this in their vehicle and tell them, have a blessed Thanksgiving from the YMCA,” Doug Bolling said.
The food was donated by volunteers and businesses.
