ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The state’s Environment Department is putting in place an emergency rule regulating the hemp industry.

The rule allows those who manufacture hemp to begin their operations in New Mexico. They say this also puts in place regulations to make sure products are safe.

The rule will be in place for 180 days. Permanent rules and regulations are expected to be put in place by 2020.
