Sandia National Labs develops robots to increase wind energy efficiency

Local News

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE)- Technology from Sandia National Labs is helping New Mexico stay green.

Researchers from the labs developed so-called wind robots. They use infrared cameras to look for hidden wind blade damage, hoping to keep blades working longer and to drive down the costs of wind energy.

They used techniques from airplane inspections and heat from the sun to develop the technology.
