APD investigating after child shot in northeast Albuquerque

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) - Albuquerque police are staying tight-lipped about the shooting of a child over the weekend.

Sunday night, they found the 8-year-old girl at a home near Paseo and San Pedro. She's currently in critical condition.

Police aren't saying how she ended up shot, only saying the investigation is complicated.

"This could go in many different directions. It could be accidental, could be criminal, could be a horrific accident, like I said. We just don't know, and it's less than 24 hours and we're investigating," Officer Simon Drobik said.

Two other children who were in the home at the time are being questioned. They have been taken into CYFD custody.

Police aren't saying how old they are or how they are related to the girl.
