ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) –Albuquerque Fire Rescue crews are responding to a fire at the Manzano Vista Apartments in the southeast region of the city on Tuesday, April 27. AFR reports an engine arrived at the scene where a second-story apartment was fully involved with smoke and flames.
According to fire officials, one apartment owner who was adjacent to the affected apartment was able to signal to firefighters that he couldn’t evacuate his apartment due to the smoke and flames. Engine 12 Captain Steven Stratmoen was able to get the individual down the stairs quickly and safely.
AFR states that crews conducted a primary search of the affected apartment and were able to confirm that all occupants were out and safe. Additional crews continued fire operations to get the fire under control and prevented it from spreading to other nearby apartments.
A total of 12 fire units were at the scene to help with fire operations. Four apartment owners were displaced due to smoke or water damage.
There were no injuries to civilians or firefighters. AFR reports the cause of the fire is under investigation.
