ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – City officials announced their plans for Fourth of July fireworks and other various summer events Thursday.
Fireworks will return to Balloon Fiesta Park on July 4, 2021. Tickets must be purchased in advance for $20 per vehicle and will be limited to 3,500 tickets; gates open at 6:00 p.m. There also will be a 9:15 p.m. synchronized fireworks display at the following locations with limited to no sectors and restricted street parking:
- North Domingo Baca Park
- Expo New Mexico
- Tom Tenorio Park
- Ladera Golf Course
- Isotopes Park
- City of Rio Rancho
Summerfest also returns with three events in July/August. The Summerfest Series will look different this year, focusing on local musicians, artists, food trucks, beer tents, and events for kids.
- July 31 at North Domingo Baca Park
- Aug 7 in Nob Hill
- August 14 at Ventana Ranch Park
Also during the meeting, officials discussed firework safety. Mayor Tim Keller, Director of CABQ Parks and Recreation Dave Simon, Deputy Director of Arts and Culture Hakim Bellamy, Albuquerque Fire Marshal Kris Romero and Bernalillo County Fire Department Deputy Chief Zach Lardy all provided updates.
The news conference comes after the governor issued an executive order urging New Mexico cities and counties to consider a ban on the selling of fireworks. This is due to drought conditions currently happening throughout the state.
