Artists finish large scale mural in Barelas neighborhood

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M (KRQE) - An old building in an Albuquerque neighborhood has been completely transformed.

Two non-profits, Homewise and Working Classroom, teamed up to revitalize the vacant commercial building on 2nd Street and Hazeldine.

They decided to make a large-scale mural that showcases the Barelas neighborhood's past, present and future.

Saturday, News 13 got a look at the final product.

The mural showcases important people, organizations and more from the Barelas neighborhood.

"The hard part was actually decided what we couldn't include and I think the biggest question we had was 'Why didn't we include that person or this organization?' I guess that's for the next narrative to go down," says Al Na'ai Lara, lead artist.

Artists Angel Pavia and Adriana Ortiz-Carmona also helped complete the mural.
