ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The Albuquerque Police Department said one person was injured after a police shooting near 98th St. and Central Ave. Around 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, officers were working on an investigation involving a stolen vehicle and more than ten stolen guns. Officers attempted a traffic stop at Lomas and San Mateo when the vehicle fled the area.

Air support tracked the car for the next hour. At one point, there were two men inside the vehicle one of the suspects took off on foot and his whereabouts are unknown.

The man driving the car ran behind El Mesquite Market in northwest Albuquerque with a gun. That’s when officers tried to de-escalate the situation but said the man did not surrender. Four officers fired their weapons. The man was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
