ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A crash at the intersection of Coors Boulevard and Paseo del Norte hospitalized three people. It happened Sunday morning.

Authorities responded to a crash in northwest Albuquerque around 10:51 a.m. on Sunday. Two vehicles were involved.

A Lexus was in the northbound Coors Boulevard lane to turn onto westbound Paseo del Norte. Witnesses said the Lexus driver was beginning to turn left after the light changed at the Coors intersection. Because she was in the lane to turn onto Paseo del Norte, she still had a red light when she began to turn. A Ford truck, which had a green light, was heading south on Coors and hit the Lexus.

Police said a passenger in the Lexus was thrown from the vehicle and was seriously injured. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition. The Lexus’ driver and Ford’s driver were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Authorities suspect the Lexus’ driver was driving while intoxicated. The Ford truck was not speeding or impaired, they said.

Charges are pending against the Lexus’ driver, and they are still investigating the incident.
