ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The Albuquerque Police Department (APD) investigated a crash that left a motorcyclist dead Friday night. They alleged the crash happened just after 7 p.m. at 86th and Central.

Witnesses told officials a Ford was traveling east on Central Avenue Northwest and tried to make a U-turn at the 86th Street intersection; there is a ‘no U-turn’ sign at this location. While making the turn, a motorcycle heading west crashed into the Ford. Witnesses also said the motorcycle had been weaving in and out of traffic.

The motorcyclist was thrown about 20 feet from the bike, officials said. He was wearing a helmet, but he died at the scene after receiving severe injuries. Through camera footage of the crash, officials determined speed and driver error were factors in the fatal crash.
