Albuquerque mayor plans trip to Texas for SXSW festival

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Albuquerque’s mayor is planning to head to Austin, Texas for one of the nation’s biggest tech and music festivals, in hopes of luring in a younger crowd to the Duke City.

Buckle Down Systems, an Albuquerque company created by John Ayala will be at the South by Southwest festival too, showing off a new way to repair buckled sidewalks.President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama are also expected to make their debut appearance at the event.

The festival features music, film and innovation, so the Mayor Richard J. Berry is taking people from more than a dozen startup companies to show that Albuquerque is an emerging city for entrepreneurs.
