Albuquerque man kidnapped while doing humanitarian work in Africa


ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A man who lives in Albuquerque has been kidnapped while working in Africa.

Michael Sharp, 34, was doing humanitarian work for the United Nations in the Democratic Republic of Congo when he and five others were abducted.

Sharp’s father who lives in Kansas told the Wichita Eagle his son lives in Albuquerque when he is not abroad. He says he’s hopeful because his son is resourceful and capable of finding a way out of predicaments.

The State Department is reportedly monitoring the situation.
