Albuquerque Firefighters celebrated in Friday’s Heroes

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A group of Albuquerque firefighters are this week’s Friday’s Heroes.

Friday, Travis Gentry, Gerry Goodyear, Calvin Lang, and Colin McDonald from Engine 15 were recognized for a recent act of kindness.

The firefighters were responding to a call when they noticed a man sitting next to his wheelchair on the sidewalk. The man told them he was hit by a car the day before and the wheel on his wheelchair wasn’t working. The firefighters decided to team up with Grace Church of Albuquerque and give the man a new wheelchair.

“That’s not something we teach, not something in a policy, not something in a SOG somewhere, that’s something that came from the heart,” said Assistant Chief Karl Isselhard, Albuqueruqe Fire Department, Engine 15.

Each firefighter was awarded a special coin.
