The Albuquerque Fire Department held a unique training session Tuesday for the public.
The department hosted a “Stop the Bleed” training class.
AFD personnel taught coworkers, military and the public how to help in emergency situations.
Fire officials say it’s important to teach bystanders since the first five minutes is the most important.
“It’s super important that people know how to stop bleeds. we see this as just as important as CPS. If people learn how to do CPR, we would love for them to learn how to stop a bleed as well,” said Jackie White, AFD Captain.
AFD says it’s offering free training to large groups.
