Albuquerque family starts winter clothes drive for homeless teens

A local family is helping teens in need stay warm this winter.

Jessi Lloyd and her three young kids are collecting coats and other winter essentials for the New Day Youth Center, a nonprofit serving homeless teens in Albuquerque.

Lloyd says they usually give to bigger donation drives in the metro, but this year they wanted to start their own.

“I think that it’s the best one that we have done so far. I really like the idea of this because it seems like a lot of people in New Mexico…they’re just struggling and they need someone to support them,” Lilly Lloyd said.

There are several drop-off locations. They are: Red Door Brewery, Downtown and Candelaria locations; Marble Brewery, Downtown location; Tractor Brewery, Wells Park, and Nob Hill locations; The Paleta Bar, San Pedro Location; Breve Coffee & Crepes, Osuna location; The Octopus and the Fox, Edith and Central.

The drive runs through the end of November.
