Albuquerque explores possibility of professional soccer stadium

News

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The city will be spending $15,000 to explore the feasibility of a professional soccer stadium.

City officials say the Albuquerque Sol Football Club would need to own or be a primary tenant of a 10,000 seat stadium to seek entry into the United Soccer League.

The hope is that a professional team in the city would draw visitors. The city council had already approved the money for the study, they mayor has now given it the final approval.

If a study shows the stadium as feasible, the city says private investments would be necessary to pull it off.
