Adobe Acres Elementary School will have local universities on hand for parents and their kids to get information on going to college.
Officials say it’s the first time the school is holding an open house like this.
The University of New Mexico, New Mexico State University, Central New Mexico Community College and New Mexico Highland University are just a few of the schools expected to be on hand.
School officials say they wanted to host this open house as a way to show kids the educational opportunities they have here in New Mexico.
“We are supporting our students in their trajectory of secondary education and moving on to college because many of our students and our families believe that that dream is not tangible and don’t know the first steps of where to even begin and having these dialogues,” said Dense Balderas, principal of Adobe Acres.
The attorney general’s office will also be on hand to talk about family rights due to school officials saying ICE and other federal policies affecting families at Adobe Acres.
The open house will be from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.
