Albuquerque city councilor proposes allocating $250K for migrant aid

One Albuquerque city councilor wants Albuquerque to provide more help to asylum seekers.

Councilor Pat Davis is proposing a resolution that would add $250,000 in emergency funding to fund shelter, food, water, transportation and more. The money would also help fund a full-time asylum services coordinator.

“None of these folks are staying here, but while they are here, we want to make sure they have what they need to move on where their home is going to be,” Davis said.

Councilor Davis says local churches and community members have already donated thousands of dollars to help asylum seekers.
