AlbuKRQEcares Project raises money to donate shoes

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – KRQE and KASA have partnered with Assistance League of Albuquerque and Papa Murphy’s to help benefit children in need with the AlbuKRQEcares Project.

Assistance League serves Title 1 schools through Operation School Bell at the beginning of each school year by donating a pair of shoes to students.

The collaboration of businesses decided one pair of shoes was not enough. Students are now able to receive a second pair of tennis shoe midway through the school year.

On Thursday, a phone bank was set up for callers watching both KRQE and KASA to donate money for new shoes for the kids.

Papa Murphy’s has set donation boxes in their Albuquerque, Rio Rancho and Santa Fe locations. When donating a pair of new shoes at any of these locations, Papa Murphy’s will give customers half off their pizza orders.

Payless has offered to discount larger shoe purchases and also donate 1,000 pairs of socks to the AlbuKRQEcares Project.

To donate, go to any of the Papa Murphy’s Take N’ Bake locations, the Assistance League Thrift Store or the KRQE studio.
