ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The State Attorney General has filed a federal lawsuit against a group out of California that allegedly took advantage of New Mexican homeowners.
Hector Balderas announced the suit Wednesday. It claims the group sent nearly $4,500 mailers made to look like official government papers to homeowners. It offered foreclosure relief and loan modifications.
The suit also says the group charged up-front fees which is illegal in New Mexico unless done by a licensed attorney in the state.
