JAL, N.M. (AP) – Authorities say two truck drivers were killed in a wreck in extreme southeastern New Mexico when their rigs collided head-on and burst into flames.

According to the New Mexico State Police, the collision occurred Sunday on State Road 128 in Lea County when one of the rigs crossed the center line to avoid striking the rear of a third truck that had slowed to make a turn.

The victims were identified as 62-year-old David Elvis Holt of Bastrop, Texas, and 40-year-old Ever Menchaca of Hobbs, New Mexico.

The driver of the other rig was not injured.
