Two New Mexico teens are getting national recognition for their volunteer work.

Lily Chacon from Albuquerque, 13, and Trennery Turner from Bloomfield, 18, are among 100 teens from around the country who received the Prudential Spirit of Community Award at the Smithsonian in Washington DC.

Turner has been volunteering for years, including mentoring younger kids and helping students with disabilities.

Chacon has worked to beautify the Bosque by planting trees and cleaning up trash.

Each received $1,000 and a personal congratulations from Olympic gold medalist Lindsey Vonn.
