News

A large group of the University of New Mexico faculty has expressed a desire to unionize.

More than 1,600 faculty members filed a petition for union election with the UNM Labor Management Relations Board. They’re from UNM’s Albuquerque, Gallup, Los Alamos, Taos and Valencia campuses.

They’re asking for more faculty voice and transparency on campus.

In a statement, President Garnett Stokes said she is “committed to listening and developing relationships” and is “looking forward to learning more.”
