10 dogs die in animal shelter; worker facing charges

News

An animal shelter worker is facing charges after 10 dogs died on his watch.

It happened last month at Ray’s Ruff-Ruff Sanctuary, which is operated out of a Deming home.

The owner of the facility told Luna County deputies the dogs died in their cages because his employee Michael Muir neglected them.

According to a police report, the kennels were overcrowded, and there were about 100 animals in the small facility, but it didn’t say specifically how the dogs died.

Muir is facing ten misdemeanor charges of animal cruelty.
