1 person shot, killed in southeast Albuquerque

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Police say one person is dead after a shooting in southeast Albuquerque.

Police say it was a robbery turned deadly.

According to Albuquerque Police, a man was being robbed and another victim was shot and killed near Ross and San Mateo.

Friday night, police are looking for three suspects who took off in a car. Police say a man was being held up, but it was another man who was shot.

The victim was taken to the hospital where he later died.

Police have not said what led up to the shooting, but a witnesses says the victim stepped in to stop the robbery.

“When I came out of my house because I left my keys in the apartment, I came out my house and heard all these sirens and didn’t think about anything. It’s routine over here,” witness George Munoz said.

Police are looking for a Native American male, about 25 years old, with long black hair, which was pulled back into a ponytail. They are also looking for a Hispanic man with dark skin and short dark hair, as well as a white female with long blonde hair.

The search for the suspect remains ongoing.
