Eastbound I-40 near Unser was closed Thursday evening after a deadly crash. It was the second major crash to happen on I-40 that day.

The crash, which happened at about 7:45 p.m., ended in a massive fireball that could be seen for miles.

Albuquerque Fire Rescue says the crash claimed one life and involved a semi tractor trailer and at least one other vehicle.

Photos show the semi crashed so hard it broke the concrete barrier along the interstate.

The fire followed almost immediately after, those flames reaching high into the sky.

An investigation into what caused the wreck is underway.
