Make a Donation to the Shoes for Kids Program
Every child is important and therefore, all children should have the best chance to reach their full potential. Children living in poverty have access to fewer resources and thus are less likely to succeed academically, more likely to experience food insecurity or homelessness, and have a higher probability to suffer from poor physical and mental health.
Run for the Zoo
Run for the Zoo, and Walk with us Too, presented by the New Mexico BioPark Society. The first Run for the Zoo in 1985 attracted just 800 participants; since then, it has grown to such popularity that we now must cap the event at 12,000 participants. Your participation in Run for the Zoo is vital to the work we at the BioPark Society do. The funds raised through this event go back to support the city’s most treasured facilities, Your Zoo, Aquarium, Botanic Garden and Tingley Beach. The event takes place every May.

Mudd Volleyball
Mudd Volleyball is a charitable and recreational volleyball tournament played in the Mudd put on by the Carrie Tingley Hospital Foundation. Held in June, layers must be 18 years of age to get in the Mudd. Teams are guaranteed 5 round-robin games with rally scoring, weather permitting.
The Carrie Tingley Hospital Foundation is a nonprofit that helps children with physical disabilities throughout New Mexico. The Foundation helps children with funding for items such as wheelchair ramps, van conversions and other items not covered by insurance. The Foundation also supports the work of Carrie Tingley Hospital, New Mexico’s only hospital for children with disabilities, and provides an array of Adaptive Sports Programs including a hand-cycling team, wheelchair basketball team, and several summer camps.

Go Red
The Go Red for Women luncheon continues to serve as the cornerstone event of the Go Red For Women movement in local communities. This empowering event focuses on preventing heart disease and stroke by promoting healthy lifestyles, building awareness, and raising critically-needed funds to support research and education initiatives.
Cardiovascular diseases, which include stroke, claim the life of a woman about every 80 seconds. Organizers from the Go Red For Women movement hope you will join them on their mission, because about 80 percent of cardiovascular diseases may be prevented.

Golden Apple Excellence in Teaching Award
Since 2009, the Golden Apple Foundation of New Mexico has provided opportunities for academic enrichment and to encourage positive change in New Mexico classrooms. In 2018, 25 new grants have been awarded to support teachers across New Mexico.
Every year, teachers are invited to submit applications for financial support for classroom books or supplies, field trips, classroom technology, and professional development. Since its inception, the Golden Apple Teacher Partner Program has provided over $473,071 to fund 298 projects serving over 57,775 New Mexico students.
The Golden Apple Excellence in Teaching Award is given each year to honor seven teachers based on their excellence in the classroom and commitment to their profession. This award has been given to New Mexico’s most outstanding teachers since 1996. Nominations are collected from teachers, students, administrators, parents, and our community to create a pool of worthy candidates for this prestigious award.
