So, what did his players do with their time off?
“I did absolutely nothing and it felt great,” said offensive lineman Joe Looney, “I ate what I wanted to eat, and man, it felt great. You know, just hanging out, not doing anything, relaxing, talking to the kiddos. So, you know, it was wonderful.”
So, what exactly did Looney want to eat?
“Oh, pizza,” Looney said. “Toppers Pizza out here. Phenomenal.”
Defensive end Demarcus Lawrence had slightly different plans.
“My agenda was get on the little bicycle in the weight room,” he said. “We got little TVs now and you can watch the little girls ride the bicycle with you, so I just did that.”
Veteran fullback Jamize Olawale takes a different approach.
“Everybody’s different, you know?” said Olawale. “So, you need to know what you need to work on and if it’s something you need to go work on, go work on it. But for me, I knew that I needed to rest. I needed to get off my feet.”
What is the key to a day off?
“We’re just going to keep working, keep getting better, make each other better, you know what I mean?” said tackle La’el Collins.
“The key to an off day is getting off your feet for a little bit,” said DE Taco Charlton. “I mean, just relax. Like I said, camp is long, so find a way to relax. Relax your mind and the next day it’s back to football.”
Unfortunately for Looney, he won’t get an opportunity to eat pizza again until Friday, which is the Cowboys’ next day off. And he can’t wait!
