Stage: Elite NM’s ‘Cinderella’

FOX New Mexico

If you think you know the story of “Cinderella”, think again.

Elite Dance and Theater Company has taken the time-honored tale and brought it into the 21st century. It is an all-new show about a young girl in love with a prince, and a prince who is in love with himself.

There is the tale’s classic prince, however, that is where the fairy tale ends and the modern twists begin.

This story features a ‘reality show’ (but how real is it really?), eight contestants vying for the chance to be a princess (including two ‘evil stepsisters’) a boy band (because, why not?) and so much more…

Iain Munro, who plays Andre, the arrogant Emcee of the reality television show ‘One in a Million’ within the stage production of “Cinderella” explains the synopsis behind the telling of this tale.

“The king has hired me because he’s fed up with his son’s lavish lifestyle, and self-centered lifestyle, so, he’s going to marry him off to a rich girl. We have eight contestants and he finds out that he’s not in love with any of them. Some of those contestants include Cinderella’s two stepsisters, and so this is the process of how he learns how real a reality TV is or isn’t and we go through the process of trying to pick his bride and while he’s trying to fall in love with Cinderella and change who he is,” says Munro.

Sheri Costales, founder of Elite is credited with both the writing and choreography on this unique spin of the tale of Cinderella.Show Details:
