ALS Association New Mexico Chapter encourages community support

New Mexico Living

According to alstreatment.com, an estimated 450 thousand people worldwide are living with ALS, with more than 30 thousand Americans fighting the disease. The ALS Association New Mexico Chapter is encouraging the community to get involved with the local chapter and join the fight to end ALS. Don Bloom, a person living with ALS, appeared on New Mexico Living with Kate Bloom, an ALS Caregiver.

Diagnosed with ALS in 2018 Don had two choices. Succumb to the disease or fight. Don chose to fight. He is currently living with ALS. He also slowly starting to lose his ability to complete everyday tasks like feeding himself and walk on his own without a cane. Don does not let this diagnosis ability to continue his everyday tasks. Instead, he works for Albuquerque Public Schools and still provides happiness to kids in his community while fighting for his life. Don and Kate are on the front lines spreading awareness and getting the community involved.
