Get ready for New Mexico’s largest sky lantern festival at Sandia Speedway. Night Lights is coming to Albuquerque March 16 for their fifth year.
This year’s events will be particularly incredible as it will feature food trucks, live entertainment, face painters, balloon artists, and the largest sky lantern launch in the state’s history.
Originally created in southeast Asia, lantern festivals have become increasingly popular in the United States. The traditional festival is a celebration of letting go or aspiration as names of loved ones and individual wishes are often written on the lanterns.
Night Lights event president Spencer Humiston appeared on New Mexico Living to explain the festival’s details.
