Keep pets safe and warm during the cold winter

Living

It is downright cold outside, with overnight lows in the teens and sadly, some people leave their pets outside in the frigid weather.

A common misconception is that cats and dogs are prone to the cold because of their fur, however, that’s not true.

Animals are still susceptible to injuries like frostbite and hypothermia and must be kept inside during cold conditions.

While longer-haired dogs like Huskies are known for their tolerance to winter temperatures, no pets should be kept outside in freezing weather for long time periods.

If your pet must remain outdoors to sleep, straw can provide extra warmth and safety in an enclosed area.
