Nestled between Silver City and Deming in southwest New Mexico, is the City of Rocks.
City of Rocks encompasses one square mile of volcanic rock formations, which are believed to be more than 34 million years old.
A massive volcanic eruption spewed boulders over this area of the Chihuahuan desert, and over time, erosion created this stunning landscape of columns.
City of Rocks offers campsites, hiking trails, mountain biking, wildlife viewing, stargazing and more. A newly updated visitor’s center includes a large display area, modern restrooms and hot showers.
