American Home Furniture & Mattress, Temper-Pedic, & Bedgear Donate to Youth Shelter

American Home Furniture & Mattress, Tempur-Pedic and Bedgear are pleased to announce we are teaming up to support a great local cause. We will be donating complete mattress, foundation, frame and protector sets valued at over $15,000, to the Albuquerque based non-profit youth shelter, New Day Youth and Family Services.

New Day was founded as Albuquerque’s first shelter for youth experiencing homelessness. Among the many support services that they provide to at-risk, runaway and homeless young people is The Safe Home, a shelter that provides refuge for youth ages 11-17 who would otherwise have no safe place to live.

“Many of the young people who come to New Day have never slept in a real bed – they’re on couches, at best, or in cars, tents or on benches,” said Steve Johnson, New Day’s Executive Director.

“We rely on donations to make the shelter truly be a ‘Safe Home’ for young people when they are in need. This is the first time we’re receiving all brand-new fully equipped beds, mattresses, protectors and foundations. We’re incredibly grateful. It is going to be beautiful for the young people in the shelter to have the best night’s sleep possible, thanks to these businesses.”

American Home Furniture & Mattress CEO Kenton Van Harten said, “We are excited to partner with Tempur-Pedic and Bedgear in contributing to New Day Youth and Family Services. Supporting community issues and organizations to help make our state stronger is essential. Good sleep is key and we believe our donations will make a difference in the lives of Albuquerque youth.”

The bedding sets will be delivered Tuesday, November 13 at 3 p.m., to the New Day Safe Home at 2820 Ridgecrest Drive SE.
