Albuquerque is among 14 cities to host the week-long “Navy Week that runs through September 16.

This means you may see sailors from all across the U.S celebrating in the Duke City.

Running in conjunction with the New Mexico State Fair, the Navy Week will bring Sailors from all across the United States to the city. Albuquerque has hosted two previous Navy Weeks: 2009 and 2016.

The Navy Office of Community Outreach (NAVCO) is planning an entire week of events with a focus towards Albuquerque and Rio Rancho public schools, the University of New Mexico Naval ROTC, students and faculty, local non-profits, civic engagement, the business and entrepreneurial ecosystem, and diverse communities. The U.S. Navy will also meet with local veteran service organizations in the area.

Since 2005, the Navy Week program has served as the Navy’s principal outreach effort into areas of the country without a significant Navy presence, with 210 Navy Weeks held in 74 different U.S. cities. The program is designed to educate and help Americans understand that their Navy is deployed around the world, around the clock, ready to defend America at all times.
