The Buddy Walk is the world’s most widely recognized public awareness program for Down Syndrome amid it returns to the Duke City Saturday, September 15.

Meant to increase advocacy and awareness, the Buddy Walk is the Rio Grande Down Syndrome Network’s largest annual fundraiser.

Since 1995, the Buddy Walk has become the premier advocacy event for Down Syndrome in the United States. It is also the world’s most widely recognized public awareness program for the Down Syndrome community.

The Buddy Walk is a day to celebrate individuals with Down Syndrome and their unique abilities and accomplishments while furthering RGDSN’s mission to promote awareness, advocacy and inclusion for the Down Syndrome community. 

The event includes performances from local groups, activities, food and music with the highlight being a short event wide walk in honor of people with Down Syndrome.

The funding from Buddy Walk directly benefits families of the Rio Grande Down Syndrome Network providing scholarships to attend the National Down Syndrome Congress Convention, educational opportunities, inclusive sports programs, and social outings.
