Three generations of master guitar making in New Mexico

Legendary New Mexico

“Luthier” is a French word meaning “maker of stringed instruments.” It carries with it a connotation of master craftsmanship, a title aptly suited for the Pimentel brothers.

Since 1951, Pimentel and Sons has produced world class, completely hand-made guitars, mandolins and ukuleles for discriminating musicians.  Founded by the family patriarch Lorenzo, the company makes “dream guitars”, according to master guitar builder Rick Pimentel.

The production process can take anywhere from six months to a year, depending on the complexity of the design.

Clients see the production through from the selection of the wood, to the intricately designed rosettes, fretboard decor and finish.

The family is now in its third generation of guitar makers, which will undoubtedly continue the tradition of excellence for decades to come.
