Laila Freeman joined KRQE in August of 2022. Natively from Washington state, Laila was raised in northwest Iowa.
She attended Western Iowa Tech Community College for an Associate’s Degree in Video and Media Production from 2018 to 2020. Towards the end of her education, instructors nudged her towards writing for news. She has always been encouraged to write by family, teachers, and friends. After graduation, Laila was hired at KCAU 9 News in Sioux City, Iowa.
At KCAU, she learned a lot about the world through the means of news. She also gained a passion for the environment, and one day, hopes to do environmental reporting. Aside from finding ways to reduce, reuse, and recycle, she loves listening to podcasts, being outside, and playing relaxing board and video games.
After two years at KCAU, Laila decided to make a big move to the Southwest. While she’s in the area, she hopes to stay involved with my new community and share the news with people all over New Mexico.
