Gabe Chavez joined the KRQE News 13 team in June 2021 as our Roswell bureau reporter.
An Albuquerque native, who went to Volcano Vista High School, has always been had a love for journalism and was a member of the school paper as far back as middle school.
Gabe continued his studies at New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, New Mexico in 2017 and graduated in 2021 with a double major in Journalism and Media Studies and a major in Criminal Justice. During his time at NMSU, he was a member of KRWG NEWS 22, the PBS affiliate. He was a reporter, anchor, producer, and weather anchor. During his senior year, he was an intern at our sister station, KTSM 9 News in El Paso, Texas, where he worked as a reporter until his graduation.
When he is not covering stories from the Southeast, he enjoys spending his time taking photos, cooking plenty of gluten-free dishes, and listening to music from all genres.
