Born and raised in Roswell, New Mexico, Corey played football and baseball in the local youth leagues. He attended Roswell High School, where he was a part of the Fighting Coyotes football team. Corey graduated from Eastern New Mexico University in Roswell, where he his EMT-Basic certification 2012.

Corey began his journalism career in 2014 as a reporter for the Roswell Daily Record newspaper. In 2015 he started an online news agency, the Chaves County News Network, providing reliable news for Southeastern New Mexico as an editor and reporter.

Corey is also an active storm chaser with Daredevil Stormchasers. He has traveled the country, filming various types of severe weather where some of his footage has appeared on the Weather Channel. His most exciting chase was the spring of 2019 in Nebraska, where he filmed five separate touchdowns in one day.

In his free time, Corey likes to watch football, especially college football. He also produces music and shoots, directs, and produces music videos.
