Spaghetti fundraiser to benefit widower of slain Carlsbad woman

Always On

A fundraiser to help a family hit by tragedy twice is set for this week.

The family is coping with the murder of a family member, Raina Hillman who then had her home torched.

Twenty-seven-year-old Timothy Maag is accused of stabbing his mother to death inside her Carlsbad home last week before setting it on fire.

He was later found at a church just blocks away from the home.

Family members say Maag was released from a mental hospital in Las Cruces the day before the murder.

A spaghetti plate fundraiser is now being held to benefit Tom Hillman, Raina’s widower.

The fundraiser will be held September 14 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. where spaghetti and garlic plates will be available for pickup or delivery.

Clothing and household items donations will also be accepted.
