With tax season comes a warning about thieves trying to steal your money.
The Attorney General’s office says it’s already seeing an uptick in the number of complaints about phony IRS agents.
Residents say the person on the other end of the line is threatening jail time, claiming the person has a tax debt.
The AG’s office says the IRS does not call or email people about tax debt. That notice would come through the mail.
